SourceForge.net(R) 2006 Community Choice Awards Winners Announced

Nearly 250,000 Votes Cast in the First-Ever Open Source Awards Recognizing Innovative Projects Making Outstanding Contributions

FREMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/06/06 -- SourceForge.net (part of the OSTG, Inc. technology media network, a wholly owned subsidiary of VA Software Corporation), (NASDAQ: LNUX), the world's largest collaboration site enabling IT strategy through Open Source, has announced the winning projects in the First Annual Community Choice Awards. The winning projects were announced at LinuxWorld Expo on April 5, 2006.

Nearly 250,000 votes were cast in the final voting process. The finalists included a range of Open Source solutions ranging from CRM and firewall solutions to anti-virus and Xbox Media Center innovations.

With nearly 1.3 million registered users worldwide, SourceForge.net currently hosts almost 117,000 projects. Of those projects hosted on the site, only those with the highest activity rankings in key technology categories were eligible for nomination. In keeping with SourceForge.net's mission to foster the Open Source movement and community, the annual Community Choice Awards program will enable the worldwide technology community to voice their support and appreciation for projects on the site. The 2006 Community Choice Awards project winners were selected by voting within 13 key technology categories, plus "Best Overall." A nominations phase was concluded on March 15, 2006 and final voting was conducted March 17 - 23, 2006. Nominations and voting were managed by the third-party research firm, Wilson Research.
